Community Investment Fund (CIF)

Established in 2023, the APOS Community Investment Fund (CIF) is a matched grant program, through which the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society (APOS) matches monetary donations made by our members to community causes. Our outfitters help whenever they can in their local communities, and it is our pleasure to support them in these efforts.

Established in 2023, the APOS Community Investment Fund (CIF) is a matched grant program that enables the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society (APOS) to match donations our members make in their communities. Since its launch, this program and the people who support it have continued to lift up Albertans across the province. Every contribution sends out a ripple that reaches far past a single group or event. It strengthens local programs, supports youth, and helps build the kind of future that reflects the values our members live every day. The reach of outfitting in Alberta goes far beyond our wilderness.

A great example of the CIF in action in 2025 comes from Bullseye Acres and outfitter Keith Staudinger. Keith made a $3,000 donation to the Peace Country Wheat Kings, a growing U9 hockey program in the Donnelly region. This is a remote area where access to organized sport can be tough, especially for young families. Any Albertan who grew up around hockey knows the reality of this. Start-up costs alone can stand between a kid and a chance to play. That is why this support landed exactly when it was needed.

In addition to Keith’s donation, a matching $3,000 contribution from the APOS Community Investment Fund helped the team cover the early costs that could make or break a new program. It allowed the Wheat Kings to welcome more players and gave families in the region a realistic path into a local program that keeps their kids active and involved. The impact is clear. More kids are on the ice, families are more connected, and the community has a renewed sense of pride in a team that reflects their values and hard work.

Stories like this capture what the fund is meant to do. It gives outfitters a direct way to support the causes they care about and make a meaningful difference close to home. Every matched grant helps strengthen rural communities, support local initiatives, and bring new opportunities to the people who call these places home.
