2017 Guide of the Year-Stacey Powell
Stacey Powell was nominated by Rebecca and Chad Lenz whom he has been guiding for since 1999. Stacey is reported as always giving 110% effort to having a successful hunt with his clients but still while respecting the rules pertaining to hunting in Alberta. He has repeat clients that request that he be their designated guide, even when they have not had a successful hunt. Stacey is the first to step in where help is needed and as highly valued as the Lead Guide in the business, and also as a friend and a part of the Lenz family.
Four endorsements come with this award. Ryan commented on Stacey’s knowledge of guiding in the area, his hunting ethics and his safety and commended Stacey on making him the hunter he is today. Tom referred to Stacy as the “Michael Jordan of guides!” Denny was quick to commend Stacey on his ability to guide multiple species, as well as tell a good story from his 20 years of guiding experiences! Cindy explained that she was very intimidated coming to hunt elk as a woman hunter on a guided hunt. But she said this feeling was quickly dispersed after she met Stacey. She has returned annually to hunt with Stacey since 2008. She reported that Stacey goes out of his way to see that his clients have the best opportunities to harvest the animals they are hunting and that he is also a fun loving and good spirited guy to hang around with.
Alberta Professional Outfitters Society is proud to present the 2017 Big-Game Guide of the Year award to Stacey Powell.
